At Swampscott Auto Driving School we offer a variety of driving classes and packages to fit your needs. Whether you’re a first-time teen driver, or an experienced one in need of a refresher, our driving instructors are here to help. You can choose the right drivers ed package to fit your needs:

Driving Education Course — Our comprehensive program to get you started and prepare you for the MA driver test.

  • 30 hours of classroom instruction and written driving school test
  • 6 hours of instruction by observation
  • 12 hours of driving lessons behind-the-wheel, including practice driver tests
    TOTAL $550.00

    Teenage Driver Education Course I — Beginning comprehensive program, specializing in teen drivers to prepare for their driving test. Students do not need a Learner’s Permit for classroom and observational activities, but MUST have a Learner’s Permit in order to drive (see below).

  • 30 hours of classroom instruction and written driver ed test
  • 6 hours of instruction by observation (of other students)
  • 12 hours of driving lessons behind-the-wheel, including practice driving tests
  • 2 hours of class for parents

    Teenage Driver Education Course II — Behind the wheel training to get teen drivers ready for the MA Road Test.

    Road Test and Certificate (only) — For those who are ready for to take the driving test.

    Drive Test Special — Includes intensive review and MA Road Test, using one of our school cars. This program is designed for experienced drivers, who need a refresher before the road driving test.

  • 60 minute intensive course, driving safe practices
  • focus on skills and maneuvers covered by the MA drivers test
  • a driving instructor will bring you and one of our best driving school cars (fully insured) to take MA Road Test at the Registry of Motor Vehicles, following the 60 minute driving lesson.
    (In order to schedule the MA Road Test to follow your lesson with us, contact the Registry of Motor Vehicles well in advance. Alternatively, ask our office to schedule it for you.)

    Defensive Driving Package — These are beginning student driving classes for those who want specific driving instructions focusing on safe habits for American driving before applying for a driver's license.

  • Six 1 hour defensive driving lessons (classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel)
  • preliminary evaluation of driving ability, and driving instructions personalized to areas needing improvement
  • Defensive Driving education with a focus on the fundamentals of safe driving
  • skills and maneuvers which are on the MA state driving exam, with practice defensive driving tests
    LESSON COST 6 x $45
    TOTAL $270
    If the driver needs additional lessons before the driving test, these may be taken at $40 an hour.

    Private Driving Instruction and Road Test — We provide one-on-one personalized in-vehicle driving lessons with one of our professional driving school instructors to address your driving education needs. Your driving instructor will even pick you up and drop you off at your door (includes Swampscott, Lynn, Peabody, Salem and Marblehead), or take you for your RMV Road Test.
    LESSON COST $45 (per lesson)
    ROAD TEST COST $100 (per individual road test)

    A Note on Driving Lessons
    Cancellations must be made 24 hours ahead of your scheduled driving lesson, or your account will be charged a cancellation fee of $30.

    Some drivers ed classes described under Teenage Driver Education Course I&II, Road Test and Certificate (only), Private Driving Instruction and Road Test, the Drive Test Special, and the Defensive Driving Package are car driving lessons with behind-the-wheel driving instruction. In order to schedule such a driving lesson you must have a valid MA Learner’s Permit, and you must have it with you at the time of the lesson. Without one, it is illegal for you to drive a vehicle, and you will be charged a “late cancellation,” fee: $30.

    In order to schedule a new driving lesson, you must not owe an outstanding balance with us. Payment is easy, we accept cash or check at the start of each driving lesson. Any returned checks will incur a $25 penalty charged to your account with us.
